Thoughts on an indoor herb garden?

Friday Oct 28, 2011

I want an indoor culinary herb garden but haven’t heard much about them.
Are they worth it?
Does it actually work and continue to grow herbs?
If you’ve ever owned one I’d love to know your opinion.
Thanks!

I was planning on buying a light from a hydroponics store, they are about 40 bucks for an indoor 4 foot growing light. you can either plant herb seeds or buy them from a garden center a few weeks old. this way you could do it for less than 100. I have seen the kits you can get with the seeds the holder and the light but the look so small and they can be 220+ to almost 400 buck, worth it I am sure, but you can set up a light anywhere you want and at any size they have 1 footers, 2, 4, 6. I was going to put it under the cabinets in the laundry room connected to my kitchen but never got around to it, had them outside, and just sold, so it will happen in the next house. as far as are they worth it.. OHHH YA! fresh herbs make all the difference, and having them in the garden is great, to be set up all year round would be amazing. do it cheap, or do the kit, but if you like to cook you won’t regret it!

as long as you provide a light source, water and proper soil, there is no reason why an herb garden wouldnt work just fine.
There is a thing they sell to grow stuff in your home that always looked interesting but its kind of spendy at first.

I grow herbs indoors and out doors. Yes, they work and are well worth it. I made Bruschetta with fresh garlic, oregano, and parsley. There is no better taste than when you use fresh herbs that you grow yourself.

You will probably grow far more than you can use, and they constantly require care.
If you are limited to room just grow the ones you will use the most of.
