I would really like to start gardening, but I live in an apartment. I do have ample patio space for planters, but the sunlight would be minimized due to the screen. I’m clueless, so let me tell you a few things so you can give me the best advice!
I’d like to grow things I will actually eat, like onions, potatoes, carrots, avocado, fruits, green onions, garlic, lettuce, squash and green beans. I would like it to be fairly low maintenance, and not too costly.
I do not care to grow only herbs, or any tomatoes.
As I said, I am a novice, so I’d really appreciate good feedback on this one!
I moved into a house that has a garden out front. I don’t know much about gardening, but would love to learn. This part of the house receives lots of sunlight. The garden is beginning to look overgrown and I need to tend to it, but I don’t know how to prune or what to prune and what to do with the "harvested" herbs. Help!
I am planning on starting a small herb and vegetable garden. The problem is, my backyard is filled with tall tree’s and there are only a few places that get direct sunlight. I have a wooden deck that I built a few years back that was meant for a sitting area, but has yet to be used. I was thinking I could build a large box-shaped area ON the deck and plant my plants there, seeing as it is the only space in the yard that gets direct sunlight for up to 7 hours. How do I go about building this and would it work?
i’ve grown some thai peppers, cilantro and basil in nursey pots (kept outdoor with partial sunlight) but decided to moved them into my rasied garden- what a mistake! they all die within two days. i guess they couldn’t tolerate hours of direct sunlight, so can someone please suggest some that are hardy enough for my garden bed? thank you in advance for your answer ^^
I’m starting my very first outdoor garden. It is pretty small and consist of 2 sage plants, 2 basil plants, a rosemary, and lavender plant. I also have a pot with mint plants. I am curious how often and when I should water them. they get most their sunlight in the afternoon.
Also, if you have any other advice on growing these plants or supplies or brand names that you would recommend I would appreciate that as well.
Thanks!
I am in KY by the way.
and how does Epsom salt help the garden?
I REALLY want to grow something on my balcony of my apartment. However the issue that I am having is that my balcony does not get direct sunlight. So I’m curious what kind of herbs and other plants would do well on my balcony. I’d really like something that produces something we could eat/cook with.
Thanks!
