town’s poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any. Maybe they are simply great enough to receive without misgiving. Most think that they are above being supported by the town; but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means, which should be more disreputable. Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage.
Especially in the middle , "Most think that they are above being supported by the town; but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means, which should be more disreputable."
I want to plant an herb garden with garlic, kale, chives, sage and maybe a few others. I also want to plant tomatoes and a few other veggies. I only have a balcony at my apartment so these will all be in pots. Can I plant anytime of the year? Like now>? I’m in Cali so weather is pretty good. Also besides tomatoes what Veggies will do best in a big pot? Any suggenstions?
I’m in the process of deciding what herbs to get for a wiccan herb garden. there are so many different kinds of sage for so many different purposes… I don’t know what kind to get… what do you think?
My husband and I finally have a house, and I plan to plant an herb garden to use in my craft. I always seem to run out of herbs right when I need them, and I figure having my own little garden should help with that a bit. Dealing with the Earth in general just seems like a good idea to me. Anyhow, I seem to be drawing a blank! So far I’m looking to plant sage, rosemary, lavender, garlic, and basil. What should I add to this to make a well rounded witches garden?
Definitely! I have an empty flower bed out front, so I will definitely plant wild flowers and such out there

Haha! Henbane could come in handy… However, since I don’t know how to properly handle that particular plant, we’ll leave it out for now. Plus, that isn’t a smell I want too near my home ;o)
Thanks for the site Hannah! I happy for help from anywhere

I was thinking about a mint, I just wasn’t sure which kind. I’ll definitely keep it contained. Oh! I was looking at mugwort, and it’s another one that will run rampant if not contained, one that can grow to be 6ft on top of that! Haha Just something I found to be interesting.
For example, if you burn sage or thyme as incense could the ashes that come from it be scattered to helped fertilize a plant/garden?
I noticed many teeny white to whitish-green mites on the undersides of my sage, basil, catnip, and cilantro plants today. The plants are about a month old (from seed) so they are only about 1 inch and have only 1 or 2 sets of true leaves. Can I use Schulz Houseplant and Garden insect spray, or would that be too harsh? What are your experiences with mites on young plants?
