This question sounds idiotic to anyone who already knows how to indoor garden, I know. And a quick Google search didn’t give me any answers.
I know I’m supposed to use pebbles under the soil in my pots to assist with drainage but I don’t have any actual pebbles (I don’t have a yard and I live in a city so no access to rivers or ponds). I do have some of those fake pebbles that I was using to decorate a vase with fake flowers in it. Will those suffice to do the same job as real pebbles?
I never thought I’d have such limited access to rocks.

I am planning to start a small herb garden in a window box style hanging wire planter that is lined with coconut husk. I live upstairs and have adequate access to light but not ground dirt, so this is my only real option for planting herbs. I want to grow parsley, thyme and possibly rosemary since I use these often. Here are my questions:
1.) Should I keep the plants in little pots and just line the planter with the little pots or can I fill the planter with potting soil and plant the herbs in the soil, allowing them to root? (this is what I’d prefer to do.)
2.) If I do plant the herbs in soil, is there a particular method I should use in lining this wire basket?
The planter is quite large, approx. 3 ft. long and 10 inches deep so I feel like this should be adequate for three plants to grow. Any advice would be appreciated, as I’m planning on hanging and setting this up over the next few days.

i bought some already grown basil from the supermarket about two weeks ago. i transplanted them last week to a larger rectangle shaped pot for the balcony. in this pot i have two basil plants a thyme and rosemary plant.. i’m considering removing the thyme and rosemary and giving them their own separate pots.
can anyone tell me why on earth my basil is all droopy and floppy? it gets direct sunlight everyday and i water them frequently. i have also used bio/organic soil and the plants were organic to begin with.. can anyone tell me where i’m going wrong, or is this normal (like, are the plants in a kind of shock?)?
cheers for any advice you can give me!

We’re growing dill, parsley, chives and basil. Or might it be bad once we consume them? We didn’t read the instructions properly so we’ve been giving it everyday instead of once a week but they are growing anyway, will just do it once a week now though. The stuff we’re usiing is called "Feed Me" (a small yellow bottle of concentrate that makes 80 litres supposedly) Also trying to grow tomatoes and wild strawberries. All in pots on our kitchen windowsill, lol. But we also put them outside on a table in the back garden during the day. Never tried to grow anything before so all very new to us. Thanks.
Manure tea, I’m empty reaching here…..ahhh,ahhhh….lol Kitchen would smell like a toilet me thinks…..In the pots we just have regular earth mixed with something called "coco peat" that we bought.
Thanks but it’s not called Orchid fertiliser, it’s simply called "Feed Me", made by some company called "151" http://www.151.co.uk/index.html I can’t see the fertaliser at their site, maybe they no longer make it, it was only about €2/ anyway.

Hahhaha i know this is like a really lame way to grow stuff but ive got a shady patio all to myself n i took a trip to Rite Aid today n saw they had veggies & stuff straight comin outta pots so i wondered to myself: Can i buy these or buy some seeds like a sunflower seeds or something & start like a garden in my patio? There is no sun in my patio but im sure i can figure out a way to put them outside or somethin for a few hrs a day to get some sun like in my car or somethin. I would do it inna park or like a secluded spot with more room & soil but i live in a place where EVERYTHING is landscaped & maintained so they would yank anything out right away
Has anyone ever tried this? Any ideas or recomendations? haha
I am already familiar with sprouting i know this is a good way to get veggies indoors but i was wondering if planting them in pots inna shady patio would actually work? Are there any specific spices, herbs, veggies, fruits, etc that do not need sun or too much root room?
Thank you!!!!
PS. Any good gardening tips on how to grow stuff also if you are experienced in this would be very much appreciated
Awesome
