I am starting my first herb garden. Decided to go with a container because it is easy to control how much sun it is getting, and for easier harvesting. Anyway I have Two basil plants that are about 6-7 inches tall, One thyme plant that looks mature, and a cilantro plant that is only about 3 inches wide right now. Will these get along in my ceramic glazed 10" pot? Let me know any tips you have too! Thanks
Hey there, so I went tot he farmers market last saturday, and I got some little tomato, pepper, cucumber, and herb plants, theres a few others, can’t remember, but I’m totally confused, how should I plant them when in the pot? Do I need to stake them? How often should I water them? The tag says to put in Direct sunlight which they are, but should I get them each their own indivual pots or no? Help! I’m not a good gardening person. haha.
Do I still need big pots if they are just small right now?
They can’t go in the ground, I live in a town house.
i’m really exctied about my herb garden, but how much water do i feed them and how many times a day? I have a basil, a chive, and a parsley. Can i give them the same amount of water? I only planted ten seeds each pot
My father saw the guy in the next building over and they stopped to chat and he was informed that the guy that lives upstairs from me approached the neighbor, pointed to my back window with two pots of Parsley and Sweet Basil/Oregano with a grow light that looks like this http://www.amazon.com/FA201HBCC-20-Inch-16-Watt-Fluorescent-Cabinet/dp/B000HJ75HA/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1281391060&sr=1-16 placed along the edge of the pot to help the basil/oregano to perk up after a transplant, and asked him if he thought we were "Growing Marijuana" in our back room.
The pots were, literally, on the windowsill… And I live on the 1.5th floor, so you can see that it is Parsley and Basil FROM THE SIDEWALK!
After I put the plants in the window, I put the grow light on a timer so that it would provide heat and light from dusk until dawn because my plants didn’t like the transplant and were adjusting to their new environment… He CALLED MY FATHER AT WORK and told him that "Your daughter left a light on in the back room ALL NIGHT." As if is any of his business… and later cornered my father on his way out to again inform him that ‘You have a light on…’
He just won’t leave us alone!
Should I write him a letter telling him what is in my pots and that if the owner of the building (who is NOT him btw) wants to know what I am growing, I’ll be happy to show him?
Should I just try to ignore him?
EVERYTHING we do is messed with or intruded upon by this guy that thinks he rules the world when he is just an old, mentally ill, Taxi Director at an airport… (He sits in the booth at the airport and makes sure that cabs don’t jump the line or accept passengers before they reach the head of the queue yet talks about how he is "The head of" basically everything on airport property…)
I didn’t care if he touched my laundry…
I didn’t care if he touched our grill…
I didn’t care that he told me I should have ASKED HIM if I could put a mail pouch on my front door because the foam tape I used might have "Harmed the Door"…
But now he is spreading rumors that we are doing something ILLEGAL!!!
Luckily, before I even knew what he was going around saying, I got a Mylar Emergency Blanket and draped that over a shelf of a wire shelving unit in my den, used Velcro to hang my, now 2, grow lights to hang from the top, and placed the pots with my COOKING HERBS in there with a small fan for ventilation… So now you can’t really see that there is any light at night, through the window… I put curtains on the one window but I have a poinsettia that needs the morning sun so I can’t close it all off to keep out his prying eyes…
How would you cope with a tard like this?
WOW… It feels good to vent… But seriously… My lease isn’t up for another year… We are already planning to move when the next year is up… But until then… What would you do in my place?
I have some flat leaf parsley plants growning in my garden…I see they have grown alot in the last week…they have tall stems, with blossoms on the ends. What i was wondering is, is there some way i can cut them down and replant the stems in a pot ?
I want to leave the plant outside, just want to get a portion of it off…….the tall stalks are what makes me wonder. What are the blossoms? Seeds?
What type of pot is the best for indoors?
Herb ‘bowl’ , Herb Plants, Tomatoes of hard to find varieties, greens like lettuces, culinary herbs for use, Containered Tomato Plants for patios ‘herb Garden’ 4 -5 different plants in a preplanted pot for the house or patio.
