Reduce your dependency on your local supermarket and grow fresh herbs and vegetables! As soon as the ground thaws and early spring arrives it is time to do your early spring planting. By early to mid May it will be harvest time! For some crops you can do a second planting or after harvesting plant a second crop of a different vegtable in the same patch! With experience you learn to get the most of your bed areas and soil, and importantly always compost yearly. I spend late fall and early spring spreading compost and working the soil for planting.
