So I was thinking of growing a small herb garden of mint, thyme, Rosemary and maybe a few others… Problem is, every time I try to grow anything it dies. I have like, a black thumb or something! So, I was wondering what the difficulty level is for a small herb garden like this, if it would be better to grow indoors or out (I live in Bakersfield, Ca, so it’s hot summers and very cold winters), and just any general tips someone more experienced than me thanks!

I’m growing a vegetable garden in a few weeks and I would like to grow some herbs too. I live in Sacramento, CA. I was wondering what kind of herbs are easy to grow and take care of in a small corner of my vegetable garden. I heard that some herbs spread uncontrollably and I wanted to make sure that I don’t grow herbs that will try to take over my garden. The herbs that I’m especially interested in are small onions, garlicRosemaryry, and mint. But I don’t know anything about them. Can you help me?
