Hi. Researching cures for HIV and Ayurveda came up. Ayurveda is Indian medicine. Was wondering if there was anyone out there that takes herbal supplements for HIV and NO prescriptions?
Researching this out of curiosity for people who are not on any HIV over-the-counter meds..As I understand that herbs may conflict with those meds. I also know that there are a lot of HIV patients out there that don’t take meds because they can’t afford to or it locks up their liver and they take herbs instead.
Appreciate the experience and advice. Be Blessed.

I ask this because while doing research, I have found that many, if not all, medicines, including chemotherapy, are synthetic compounds of natural herbs that they extract and patent and then make literally billions of dollars from.
They then get these approved and other more natural cures, since they have not successfully extracted or patented them are pushed under the rug because federal law prohibits a patent on natural substances.
Do you believe that pharmaceutical companies control the medicines that we receive, and that there are natural cures that are not offered? If so, what would stop or control this from happening? It just seems that Western medicine has become more about making money than actually helping people.
This in no way reflects on the many hardworking, and truly selfless doctors and nurse I have come across, I am thinking more of those who control what medicines are offered.
Thoughts and opinions.

For people living in jurisdictions where herbalism is legal:
I´m a medical herbalist, and like many others of my profession i find it almost impossible to get people to consult me. As you´re probably aware, we train fulltime for several years to do this work and it´s most disheartening that we can´t help more people to maintain or improve their health. Is there a reason why you prefer to buy possibly inappropriate and poor quality herbs at the enormous markups charged by the vendors to the individual attention and holistic approach taken by herbalists? We are cheaper than health food shops and so forth, and we´re also in danger of becoming extinct as a profession.
Leaving aside any bias i may have introduced by this preamble, what is stopping those of you who believe in herbal medicine from consulting a herbalist?
Natpractitioner, yes, i have indeed tried that, on the grounds that ultimately it´s a better idea for people to maintain their own health rather than have someone else do it for them, and because the corollary of not going to a practitioner is for them to know enough, and there was very little interest. Those who come, like my clients, have given very good feedback, as they have to talks i have given, but actually getting people to come is almost impossible.
I´m also aware of the insurance issue, and that´s particularly mystifying.
Incidentally, if any alternative therapists or herbalists are interested, i´ve written a report on this for the regional group of my professional body, describing what i´ve tried, what´s failed and my thoughts on that – i say "what´s failed" because nothing has actually succeeded. If you want to see that, please do ask.

I’m not pregnant. But I haven’t had a period in over a year. I’m not interested in going on conventional medicine like provera because I had some side affects last time that I don’t want to deal with again (If I don’t have to) . Yet, my body is definitely telling me that I need a period. Is there something naturally that I could try that might help?

This is somewhat related to my other question. I run a forum site that addresses many issues. One issue we are tackling in ED (Erectile dysfunction). Now recently I asked if any of you have tried or hear do Ed solutions that are not prescriptions. This could be vitamins, herbs, food, certain exercises or whatever. Recently low testosterone was brought up as possible cause. So I ask now (to add to my forum) what solutions (outside of prescription medicine) have you tried or are aware of (with some evidence) that might help a person with low testosterone?
