Mint herb remedy?

Friday Sep 3, 2010

I have a bad cough and nasal congestion. My sister has a lot of mint in her garden… does anyone know any mixes or drinks that can be made with mint to relieve my symtoms somewhat naturally? Thanks!

Mint would at most soothe your symptoms as a warm drink. Self-help homeopathy is more effective (and fast). Usually remedies are locally available at natural food stores and some grocery chains.

I recommend "Homeopathic Medicine at Home" by Maesimund Panos, M.D.

Before training as a homeopath, I was an herbalist.

One thing that might help most with the nasal congestion is to take a palmfull of mint leaves, throw them in a pan of boiling water, then put your face over the water and invale the yummy vapors! (to "funnel" the vapors to your face, place a cloth over your head, enclosing the space between the pot and your head.)

Of course, don’t be stupid, don’t put your head too close to the water, put your hair up and make sure your clothes won’t go up in flames!

Here’s some sites that list some of the uses of mint.
BTW< most remedies using mint oil can also be done using the plant itsself, just less potent.
