is it allowed in australia to have herbal tea inside parcel from other country?

i’m planning to send gifts for a friend in australia and i want to include her favorite tea from the philippines. i’m not sure if i’m going to have a problem with that. is that legal? ‘coz i remember when i was in melbourne last nov. they are very strict with the goods that enters their country.i don’t want my gifts to be sent back to me just because there is something inside that they don’t allow. thank you

I wouldn’t send tea. There might be a couple of brands allowed but most are not, it’s not worth the risk. I doubt they’d send it back but they would open the package and destroy the tea and possibly question the recipient.

The only way you could send tea if you wanted to take the risk is if it is properly and professionally packaged like you would buy at the store. It must list all the ingredients as well.
