Indoor Herb Garden

Sunday Oct 23, 2011

I bought a mint garden, and a basil garden from my my neighbourhood farmers market. They are already grown and they look stunning on my window sill, but how do I keep them from dyeing?

Not sure if this link is going to work, but here is a picture.

How many times do I water them? Do I use a lot of water? Do I only wet the soil, or can I wet the actual plant as well?
Is there a certain way to pick the herb out of it’s stem? If so, how?

Please give me all the tips you have.

You only water them when they need it, and only as much as they need.

You can get the plant wet, as long as it can dry off before night

Just pinch off what you want to use

No tips. Just 4-6 hours of sun a day

Pick herbs and use them in recipes often so they don’t overgrow. Water them by getting a plant mister and misting them every morning before the sun gets to them. They love both to thrive. So no actual drops on leaves, which make mildew. Mist.
With clean hands snip the herbs near the stem with scissors. Embroidery shears are fine for they are sharp and tiny. Clean them.
