I’m sure that you can get young plants in a garden market and can do it without seeds. Probably you will be surprised how big they are, and they will keep on growing. Herbs are mostly rather unpretentious. Your can keep them in their pots or plant them into the garden. Some do smell rather strong, maybe too strong for inside.
If you like the Mediterranean Cuisine, you should own sage, lovage, origan and basil. Other popular herbs are thyme, parsley and chives.
Scandinavian food is typically flavoured with dill. But this one can grow up to five feet in a few months and must be planted outside.
