Green Smoothie made with Edible Wild Plants + A Garden Tour (Video 1 of 2)

Wednesday May 26, 2010

Growing Herbs * Wild Edibles * Wild Herbs * Wildcrafting * Come with me on a quick tour of my vegetable & herb garden! I’ll be harvesting some wild herbs that are growing around the edges of the garden…so you’ll finally get to see what wild plantain and lambs quarters look like! They are both commonly referred to as weeds, but plantain and lambs quarters are actually both delicious and healing herbs! Be sure to then join me in video 2 where we make a nice green smoothie together… See you soon! Peace, Dan .

I need to learn to identify all wild herbs better. The more pictures I see the better. I would also love to see the rebounder and maybe your support for HR1207!

Thanks for showing us the lambs-quarters, I have that all over my garden in the UK and had no idea it was the same thing (having just heard the name before but not seen it) an that could eat it. Here in England we call it ‘Fat Hen’.
Thanks for the videos, I start my day with you now and it makes me feel positive and motivated to eat as well as I can.
Off to pick blackberries in the woods!

Hi Dan! Do you own this land? how much land is it? and can I ask you what do you do for living, do you work full time or part-time? how do you afford your blissfull fruitarian lifestyle? I would like to live on fruit but don’t want to work all day to earn money for it…and another question: what’s your experience/opinion on fermented foods and probiotics?

Thanks

We are actually “camping” at lake bronson family nudist park…I am doing health consultations and reaping miracles right now to stay moving forward. I was cleaning windows and roofs but I quit to become a YouTube star! :D Find what you love to do and do it! The universe will support you! Trust me on this one….I have had an endless stream of miracles since I devoted my life to helping people and put my own small “needs” aside! Life is too damn short to not be doing what you love to do!

So did you build the beds and fence on their property? I guess you plan to go back there next season? I think the fact that you have all that and a tractor confuses us. It makes it seem like you’re a more permanent resident than a camper.

Continue planting seeds and you’ll reap the harvest. You’re right that if you do what is good, good will come.

I was starting my day with his videos also and it helped me get on the right track for the day, but he’s been slacking on us lately lol. Dan, we’re counting on you for that morning inspiration with our coffee, tea, juice, whatever… yes, I’m bad, I like coffee :)

True. Urea (urine) is a non protein nitrogen (NPN) and is often added to soil. It is even fed to animals. It’s not protein but is believed to be converted to protein by the microbia in a cows stomach. Dairy cows pass some of this to the milk we drink.

Other NPNs are triuret, biuret, melamine and ammonia.

When food is tested for protein levels, it’s really tested for nitrogen level as the only nitrogen in food should be from protein. These toxic substances can be used to fool tests.

Thanks for that overly technical explanation. If you put urine in your compost it increses the nitrogen levels of the soil when mixed up :)
