Posted by pano | Under Herbal Teas & Remedies Monday Aug 30, 2010to drink my tea and I drink like calming tea and different ones for different things. i don’t see any warnings or anything on the box so I was just wondering If anybody knew any facts on the herbal tea for little ones.
It’s fine for all ages
Thats so cute that a little 2 year old wants tea
Enjoy!
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Try doing an online search in your engine search bar and see what pops up. But I really don’t see what the problem would be.
I can’t think of anything wrong with your two-year-old having some tea. Offhand, I’d say it’s probably better for them than many of the juice products on the market.
Just make extra sure that it’s cool enough to drink before it’s anywhere close to your child, because they’re not so good at waiting for something in front of them to cool off, or they might knock it over!
"herbal tea" is too general. You need to specify WHICH herbs are in the tea. Some herbs are beneficial for kids and some are not.For example..those with a ragweed allergy should not consume chamomile tea.
You might want to be cautious of the caffeine content of some tea’s, but I don’t think you have anything to worry about as far as it doing actual harm to your child. But if you do let him/her drink it, make sure you don’t turn your back too much in the future, because they might try to grab your tea….and 2nd degree burns on the tongue and throat don’t seem like much fun!
Most herbal teas that you buy at the supermarket will be fine. They might make him a little sleepy if he drinks too much. Try to stick to ones that you know don’t have a strong medicinal effect, like peppermint and "berry". Some of the ones that you get at the healthfood store that have stronger herbs in them might not be so good.
My 3 year old little girl loves tea, I just give her very weak tea. No problems with them drinking tea over 1 so let her enjoy.
i think it depends on the tea. i would let him drink flavor teas or green teas. but nothing else. you have to look at what its supposed to do for you. i, the same way i love my herbal teas. but i wouldnt give anything for a stomach ache bcuz i look at itlike i wouldnt give him pepto. i wouldnt give him energizing tea bcuz it may have caffeine and i wouldnt give him soda or a red bull so no to the tea. as for a calming tea, depends on whats in it. i would let him drink some lipton raspeberry tea, green tea, chamoille, lemon or peppermint. just the flavor one but not any legit herbal teas.
When it comes to your child’s health, you need to see a pediatrician, not yahoo answers. Most of the people on here don’t know what they are talking about so why would you take that chance?
When you say herbal, do you mean fruit teas?
I would be very happy to let my daughter (4) drink my herbal/fruit tea – although I doubt very much she would like it.
If you are talking about supermarket herbal teas (blackcurrant/fruit, chamomile, peppermint…) then IMHO opinion they are far better than black tea – no caffeine! However I would exercise caution with some of the less common teas that you might find in your health food shop. The only example I can think of is raspberry leaf which is suggested for the later stages of pregnancy to help encourage a good labour, but you do have to wonder how strong/toxic something that strong might be to a tot…
