Can you identify this Mystery Plant?
Posted by pano | Under Herb Garden Saturday Jul 31, 2010When my b/f recently moved, the previous owners left behind a plant that was half dead. We started growing herbs, veggies, and flowers out on the terrace, so our interest in gardening has greatly increased over the last few months. That being said, our attention to this Mystery Plant has followed suit.
While my b/f guessed it either being a Palm or Bamboo, I guessed a type of Dracaena after some internet research (though I’ve yet to find an exact match – which is probably evidence that I am wrong). I’ve been following care tips for Dracaena, which included trimming dead yellow tips following the shape of the leaves, transferring it to a larger pot with new soil, providing indirect light, and watering only once the soil seems dry. All seem to be helping greatly.
I’ve included a link to a pic. If you can identify the plant please let me know!
Thanks.

I think its the Yucca plant.
I believe it’s a bamboo. Go to Orchard supply and look around the Palm and bamboo and I am sure you will know for sure!

I have one at home don’t know the name but I bought it at Home Depot, hope it helps.
It’s a yucca plant. I have one twice that size in my bedroom. Yours looks like you have been giving it too much water. I have had it for 8 years and still have the tag with the name on it in my files. Got it at Walmart and kept the tag in case it died. But it has done great.
You are correct it is a Dracaena, and you are doing a marvelous job! Keep up the good work, you have brought her back to life.
It’s a Dracaena, we have several types of this plant.
