Brown thumb?

Wednesday Jul 28, 2010

I absolutely love to garden! It relaxes me and I enjoy getting my hands dirty. The problem is, once my plants have grown, they quickly die. I’ve even killed an aloe vera plant! I follow all the directions and never neglect my plants. I’ve subscribed to gardening magazines and have searched the internet on plant care. No use! The funny thing is, when someone else takes over tending my plants, they suddenly blossom and bloom! When I take over again, they wilt and die….Does anyone have any gardening secrets they want to share? Anything would be appreciated! I am currently growing an herb-kit (parsely, basil, thyme, etc. Got it at Wal-Mart) and a chamomile plant. Both of which are wilting and turning brown…*sniff*

One of the biggest mistakes first time gardeners make is either over watering or under watering. Go back to Wal Mart and get a journal. Keep a record of everything you do with your plants. What happens when you over water? etc. If you are container gardening, keep in mind some plants don’t like it. Inside or outside? All these matter. Here’s a sure winner. Do you like flowers? Buy a pack of zinnia flower seeds. Find a nice sunny place outside and put them in a large flower pot. Plastic is good for now. Get good potting soil. Read directions on the pack. these should give you the confidence you need to add to the beauty of the earth.

sounds like you are watering too much of too little. you should only have to water a couple of times a week. when you can dig your finger deep in the soil, 3-4 inches, and its still dry then water. Also dont overfeed your plants
