Are sobe drinks bad for you?

Friday Aug 12, 2011

I know they are just like pop / soda from high amounts of sugar but I haven’t been drinking the one with caffeine / corn syrup in it. I don’t know what kind it is but it has aloe vera and hibiscus herbs in it. Here are the ingrediants,

filtered water, sugar, skim milk, cream, pectin, citric acid, natural flavor, puroke sweet potato juice extract (color), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), grape juice concentrate (color), lactic acid, purple carrot juice concentrate (color), gum arabic, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, strawberry juice concentrate, niacin, calcium panthotehnate, aplha-tocopheryl, acetate hibiscus sabdariffa extract, glycerol, ester of wood rosin, pryidoxine hydrochloride (viatmin B6) retinol palimitate, cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12). contains milk ingrediants.

I don’t really drink it for "energy" (if it even is a energy drink) but more for taste. The flavor is strawberry daiquiri. They taste really good, sometimes I drink to many though. Like yesterday I drank 3 600ml bottles.
How bad is it for me?

Just like a soda without the bubbles. One bottle has 2.5-3 serving I think. A little better than soda since it doesn’t have high fructose corn syrup listed as one of the top 5 ingredients. Just limit your intake

They aren’t bad for you per say but everything in moderation. The only things in them that aren’t good for you are the sugars…lots of them…and some have caffeine. So just take it easy and don’t drink them all the time. Once in a while is fine

Everything in moderation, I think 3 is too many. Water is the best thing for you to drink. :-)

They’re pretty darn bad seeing as sugar is the second ingredient. That means it has almost as much sugar in it as it does water. Also most if not all the fruit juices come from concentrate which is once again purely sugar. Also look for anything with the suffix close glucose etc… that automatically means it’s sugar in some form. But the Sobe drinks are not "soda without the bubbles" soda contains a lot of those "close" and caffeine and dyes and so many things that can harm your kidneys, bones, weight etc…. Water is the best thing for you and a second best would be 100% natural juice drinks or Green Tea with honey(honey is a natural low calorie sweetner)
